Are you seeking a closer, more intimate relationship with God? I think this is one thing that most humans have in common. We are all created in the image of God, and as such we are spiritual beings. There was a time, not that long ago either, when the majority of folks would identify themselves as Christian, and regular church attendance was the norm. The world has changed a lot in the last few decades, and so has the relationship between many and the Christian church for all kinds of reasons. People’s lives are busier. Some have had bad experiences with the church, seeing the church as judgmental and moralistic. Others have drifted away, because the church did not connect with them on a spiritual level, and frankly, I don’t blame them! For many church goers, Sunday morning has been much about “we do it because we are supposed to, not because we enjoy it.” And things have changed very little from “the good old days.” This doesn’t work anymore. Unless the message connects, unless the worship music connects, unless what the church has to offer nourishes people’s spiritual life, people are not going to spend their Sunday mornings going to church!
The leadership at Grace Lutheran has a vision; we want to connect the love of God with the community. We want to offer opportunities for people to grow a deep and Spiritual connection to a loving God who wants to have an intimate relationship with all God’s children. So we are looking to try some new things this year. We are looking to add worship opportunities, Bible study opportunities, create small groups with a focus on relationships and spirituality. We are looking to try different music styles. We are looking to connect with children and youth. We are looking to find ways to better serve those in need in the community. So if any of this sounds exciting to you, I would love to hear from you! Maybe you would have some ideas you would want to share as well. If so, I would love to hear from you. Shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or stop in to see me at church sometime!
Peace and Blessings!
