Our Community Ministries

There is a need in our community and Grace Lutheran Church members are reaching out to you and to our community to help fulfill that need. Would you like to help? Have you identified a need in our community? Please help us help those in need. Need more information? Looking to volunteer? Please contact the church office, 410-828-5115.

Assistance Center of Towson Churches (ACTC)

The Assistance Center of Towson Churches (ACTC) brings local churches, partners, and people together, to serve neighbors in need in Baltimore County and northern Baltimore City.  Their goal is to reach out to those in need with God’s Love and Provision.  ACTC helps with food, rent, and other services through the generous support of donors and volunteers.

Lunches

Three times a month members at Grace make and provide lunches for ACTC.  We pack a brown bag lunch with a sandwich, snack and water.  The members of Grace Lutheran are dedicated to helping ACTC feed the homeless in our community.

If you are interested in helping, please let us know.

Thanksgiving Bags

Each year in November, members at Grace Lutheran purchase and donate packed bags of groceries for the ACTC Thanksgiving food drive.  We strive to give back to the community and we partner with other churches and local grocery stores to support ACTC as they continue to feed those who are less fortunate in our area.  For more information on how you can help, please contact the office.

Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen

Grace Lutheran Church’s Social Ministry and Fellowship Committee (with the support of the Helping Hands Group) is sponsoring an outreach ministry at Epiphany Lutheran Church of Baltimore, Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen.  Grace Lutheran continues to volunteer to provide a hot meal for 75-100 soup kitchen visitors on various Saturday afternoons, throughout the year.

The Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen is always looking for extra help with cooking, serving and cleaning. It is a lot of fun while providing a much-needed service to the community. For more information on how you can help the Loaves & Fishes Program at Epiphany Lutheran Church contact christineparker@god-is-love.org or call 410-485-7654.

Lutheran Mission Society

The Lutheran Mission Society has made it their call to minister to the needs of the body with food and clothing, along with the needs of the soul with the Good News of Jesus.  Grace Lutheran is dedicated to supporting LMS with their goals.  We are committed to helping those less fortunate as we continue to share the peace and love of Jesus.  We collect clothing, gloves, and hats to be distributed by LMS, along with some household items.  We also purchase and assemble gifts for the children for the holidays.

We encourage everyone to get involved.  It is such a heartwarming feeling, knowing that we can make a difference, and we can make the holiday better for so many.

Easter Baskets

Members of Grace Lutheran donate 12 dozen Easter baskets each year to LMS.

We collect Easter candy, crayons and coloring books, religious story books of Easter and the resurrection, stuffed animals, along with various toys, bubbles and snacks.  Once we assemble the baskets, they are donated to LMS

Christmas Stockings

Members of Grace Lutheran donate 12 dozen Christmas stockings each year to LMS.  It’s a lot of fun for us to shop and fill the Christmas stockings, knowing that we will make so many kids smile at Christmas.  Each stocking is filled with a stuffed animal, the story of Christmas coloring book and crayons, along with candies, snacks and small toys.  Once we assemble the stockings, they are donated to LMS to be distributed.

The Giving Tree

Each year during Advent, we have a Christmas Tree in the entranceway that starts out completely empty.  Little by little members of Grace and our neighborhood friends decorate the tree.  We cover it with hats, gloves, socks, small toys, books, and stuffed animals.  All of these items are boxed and donated to the Lutheran Mission Society.  If you would like to make a donation, please contact the office.

Seafarers’ Center

Each year during the Christmas holiday, members of Grace Lutheran assemble and wrap gift boxes for the Seafarers.  These gifts are given to sailors who are staying on ships in the Port of Baltimore, away from their homes and families.  We collect toiletries, hats, scarves, bibles and other small gift items to fill the “Christmas at Sea” gift boxes.  Please contact us if you would like to help support this ministry.

Letters to St. Dysmas

Grace Lutheran has been sending “Messages of  Encouragement” to inmates who are striving to become Christian. The notes are signed by “A friend in Christ”, as we offer our support and share our faith.  We have a writing station set-up in our entranceway with writing supplies.  Every few weeks we mail an envelope off to St. Dysmas with several letters to be shared with the inmates.  Please call the office if you would like more information.
